After performing with Cleveland Ballet and Alabama Ballet as a soloist/principal dancer, Therese continued her dance career as ballet mistress with Alabama Ballet. As Dance Chair of the Alabama School of Fine Arts (1997 – 2007) she saw the importance of adding Pilates to the curriculum for dancers to enhance strength, flexibility, injury prevention and overall health.
In 2009, she completed the teachers training program at The Pilates Center in Boulder, Colorado, subsequently teaching at Pilates on Highland, The Country Club of Birmingham, A Center for Eating Disorders, the Embody Practice Center and now at Core Strong Pilates.
She continues to work professionally in the dance world recently as ballet mistress for AROVA Contemporary Ballet (2006 - 2018), AROVA documentary project, The Dance Foundation and the University of Montevallo Department of Theatre where Pilates informs her eye and provides valuable teaching tools.
Her goal in all Pilates work is to focus on supportive breath and centering movement, encouraging both strength and flexibility so that practitioners can feel strong and capable in their endeavors.
